What to know about your interview

Thank You for applying to become a member of Kent County RACES / Search and Rescue.

You need to know the following before coming to your interview.

Kent County Sheriffs Department main entrance. 701 Ball Ave NE 49503.

Please arrive no more than 5 minutes early. This is a secure building and most likely after normal business hours. So the main doors will most likely be closed/locked. Please just wait. Do not use the red phone. Someone will come to the doors and get you.

Please dress in business casual attire and bring the requested materials.

Interviews will take approximately 50 minutes.

This is how the application process works:
#1) Submit your application
#2) Create your ‘love me’ book and complete the first two FEMA courses
#3) Interview
#4) Final background check by KCSD
#5) Acceptance or Denial

At this point, you have completed step 1 by submitting an application, you are scheduled for Step 2 if you are reading this.

Before you come to your interview we ask that you do the following.
– Purchase a 2-inch binder
– Purchase at least 50 sheet protectors
– Create a cover page for the front of your binder that says the
following. Your name, and Kent County RACES / SAR love me book.
– Print the attached document probationary 2018 pdf. This will become
page 1 in your book.
– Print the remaining attached documents. The page number is in the
title of the document.
– Complete the following online training courses. These training
courses will become part of your “love me” book.

You are more than welcome to continue on the remaining courses. These
are the two courses you are required to complete and bring with you to
your interview. You will need to print them out and they should be
placed in the order of the checklist in your love me book. You should
also save digital copies of these as you will need them for later.

Please note, completing these tasks is not a guarantee in joining the
program. This task demonstrates the willingness to complete requested
tasks within a set amount of time.
